We are looking for an experience Studio Director to join our team to oversee, support, manage and strategically drive our creative offering. 

If you understand all the elements of the design process from end-to-end to ensure effective resourcing is met across multiply and complex programs, have a proven track record of moulding and engaging creative teams to drive performance whilst rising to the challenge of strategically building a new creative revenue stream – we would love to talk to you!

The role:

To strategically plan the evolution of a new creative revenue stream whilst mananging the day to day operations of a busy creative team, from resourcing and recruitment, to line management and development and so enable our designers to focus purely on the ideation and production of the creative material required.  You are the pivotal member of the Creative team, the strategic driving force,  central port of knowledge responsible for resourcing from our internal talent pool and your own network of creative freelancers, managing timelines as well as managing and developing the creative team so that its collective skills remain relevant in an ever changing market.

You will ensure that our creative infrastructure and Kit is fit for purpose.  And encourage the team to think outside the box with trend updates and industry innovation info.

You should have a minimum of six years' Industry experience of managing the creative process within a agency environment as well a minimum of six years managing and developing a creative team. It is a fast-paced agency, and you must be prepared to go the extra mile to deliver consistently high standards

Key Responisbilites (will include but will not be limited to):

  • Managing the day to day running of the Creative Studio; managing all studio operations, making full use of project management and collaboration tools.
  • Strategically driving the evolution of the creative service offering creating a successful independent revenue stream whilst continuing to service upstage program requirements.
  • Managing all aspects of the budget for each project, along with financial tracking and controls. Efficiently managing studio time and the Design team, in accordance with the budget.
  • Lead on specific programs / projects initially (3-6 months) until you have delivered revenues / forecasts to enable the expansion of the team.
  • Clearly communicating the client and project needs to the design team to ensure that the work meets the agreed brief.
  • Assessing, interrogating, and clarifying client briefs and assigning the appropriate designers to a project.
  • Proofing and reviewing designs and checking documents before they are shared with the operations/ new business team /client.
  • Assisting on creative production when needed and meeting with team members for feedback.
  • Creating and implementing deadlines, project goals, expectations, and workflows, to ensure a smooth production process with on-time delivery.
  • Managing procurement of print, large format production, subscriptions and tools and organise deliveries.
  • Curating image libraries and video, artwork, and branding assets. Ensuring files are stored and named according to protocols and timesheets are completed effectively.
  • Setting up systems and processes so that the studio and the wider agency are aware of how the creative studio operates.
  • Managing a multi-disciplinary studio team which may comprise of a range of designers, creative directors, digital skills, and freelancers; setting daily priorities and supporting the continual professional development of the team so that we upskill to enable profit to stay in house.
  • Recruitment and selection (as part of team) for our permanent and freelance hires.

  • Strategic activist, you’re able to apply your industry knowledge of future trends and solutions to present new, challenging, forward facing creative strategies for our clients and holistically to evolve our service offering creating an independent revenue stream.
  • Skilled with Adobe applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Skilled in general art working, press preparation and possibly website content updates using CMS programmes such as WordPress.
  • Flexible in managing multiple projects, requiring multiple skills, deadlines, and budgets.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • A minimum of 4 years managing, and developing a creative team
