Job Description

Lead Artist

Roles & Duties

• To lead small – medium art teams, consisting of Concept, UI, 2D and 3D artists
• Responsible for the production of all project art assets
• Reporting to the Studio Art Director
• To help develop a games style and manage its implementation
• Plan and manage the delivery of all project artwork
• Liaise with design and coding engineers
• Demonstrate and uphold a high standard of artwork at all times
• Contribute to the planning and scheduling of Art Production
• Train and Mentor less senior Art Staff
• Conduct one to ones and appraisals for your team

Skills & Expertise

• 5+ years of Industry experience
• Degree level education or equivalent experience in professional field
• A passion for games and creating art
• Proficient in Max/Maya and Photoshop
• Experience in iOS and Android development beneficial
• Experience in Unity or Unreal beneficial

• Able to lead a team, motivate and direct them daily
• Able to critique, providing constructive feedback
• Able to communicate across multiple disciplines
• Ability to contribute to innovative and original ideas across the development team
• Good (English language) verbal and written communication skills
• A positive can do attitude, not afraid of a challenge
• Work well under pressure and be able to meet deadlines
• Demonstrates thoroughness and attention to detail

Additional Qualities

• Can demonstrate traditional art skills
• An understanding of visual language and how art can enhance a game experience.
• An understanding of game-play mechanics and how they relate to a scene/story or visual composition.
