Fixed-term contract for three years in the first instance

Are you interested in collaborating with world leading organisations like Sony Interactive Entertainment, Rewind VR, Imaginarium and the National Film & Television School? Are you technically minded and a good communicator who is able to solve and explain immersive production software/hardware problems? Then this job may be for you! 

Applications are invited for the post of the StoryFutures Academy Technician as part of the new national centre for immersive storytelling at Royal Holloway – awarded as part of a significant government investment in immersive production. The Centre will link cutting-edge research and teaching within the College with high profile creative industries partners. 

The StoryFutures Academy Technician will work as part of a team facilitate creative and collaborative development of immersive story experiences through provision of technical support, data management, operational skills training, and specialist advisory support to the Centre for Digital Creativity’s research students, staff and partners. 

The post holder will have specialist knowledge in Immersive Production with the ability to provide hands on support for the Centre’s facilities, possessing a broad knowledge of film and video pre-production and post production equipment and processes. You will be a practical problem solver capable of basic fault diagnosis, repair and operation across the audiovisual production chain – with a particular emphasis on interactive and immersive productions. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of video games production pipelines. The post holder must have excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders, including those from Higher Education and Creative Industries. The successful applicant will spend significant time liaising with industry partners across the local region, including central London. An attractive relocation package is available.
